NZSL interpreting is most often done simultaneously. It is a live process and can be done in person or online. I am able to provide remote interpreting (online via various platforms), or in person interpreting. For best practice, the interpreter will be prep material to review prior to the event. Which type of meetings, events, conferences should be interpreted? Well, if your event has sound and you want to be equitable and promote inclusion, then NZSL interpreting is required.

As NZSL is a language in its own right, seperate from the English language, having NZSL translations of English text ensures the Deaf community have equal access. Websites, training videos, documents, health & safety information- any English information can be translated into NZSL. NZSL videos can also be captioned into English or translated into English text. It is important to keep in mind that Deaf people can do these translations, and are more often the better choice than an interpreter.

 Sometimes it can be hard to know where to start and where to get the best resources. Sign Language is not universal, so understanding the NZ context and language is important.
